This one’s pretty marginal; it is, after all, posted within the developer.myspace.com domain… but still, there’s no way that Boo Boo Bear here meant to post this publicly. (I am not making this up; that is the name he posted under, despite or perhaps in relation to his MySpace profile’s evidence that he is a card-carrying ass man who does not want us to ever forget 9-11 but doesn’t mind if we suffer through a few auto-loading sounds.) Wonder if he understands how this comment will affect his brother’s Internet presence once he gets out of jail and tries to get a job.

Beyond the usual tragedy of Internet illiteracy and inappropriate disclosure of personally identifying information, the irony of a Latino man from Southern California trying to get Bill O’Reilly to reduce a 20.99% interest rate for him is positively painful.

She doesn’t address Dr. Oz directly, but others on the page do, so I’m pretty sure that’s who she’s talking to — there’s no indication the page managers have a their own show. One comment makes it clear they found their way here when Dr. Oz tweeted about the site. It’s a slightly milder form of Internet confusion than I’m used to, which would still be solved if anyone knew how to read a URL. I’m wondering how much this kind of referral-confusion happens with the increasing popularity and lowered barriers to entry of places like Twitter and Facebook.

We hear from so many (apparently straight) older women and younger children on this site that I found the comment from a trans man striking (I’m not looking to make anyone look like a freak here, just trying to round out my diversity picture). Sadly, the “I just got this computer, look how I’m doing!” song is disappointingly familiar.

The blogger is African; the post itself says nothing about Africa; yet a relatively high percentage of the commenters say they are from Africa. Is Google or some other search engine serving them mostly African results? Would this be what they want if they’re really trying to contact Ellen? This makes me wonder again whether people may not just be using these blogs as a form of apostrophe, like prayer.

I always enjoy threads where people try to contact athletes, as more men tend to show off their Internet illiteracy skills, balancing out what is usually a pretty frightening gender divide.

Definitely more worth checking out on this thread; look for the girl who tells Alan he’s got two moms, racism, international comments, people showing off their degrees to show how smart they are (BA HONS SPORT SCIENCE), and everyone but everyone bashing the blogger: “I dont know who the fuck this Maurice guy thinks he is ummm lets see is he a pro basketball player umm NO… Was he number 3 on BET’s top 25 hottest black men of 2005….umm NO!! again.”

Blogger Chris noted that this commenter arrived on a Yahoo search for www.zonealarms.com. “The comment speaks for itself,” Chris wrote. “I have nothing to add.”

It’s also worth checking this cached page on archive.org for the comment from a woman asking actor Chris O’Donnell to join her anti-child-porn crusade, which apparently involved trying to get Kimberly-Clark to take naked baby pictures out of its diaper ads.
